Shackleton – Drawbar Organ EP Part. 1 12"

If you missed out on the Shackleton "Music For The Quiet Hour" / "The Drawbar Organ" vinyl box set, you can now get the "Drawbar Organ" part on three separate 12"s. Part 1 includes four tracks: "(For The) Love Of Weeping" is typically Shackleton, combining Afro / world music style chants, marimba / woodblock percussion, studio fx and rhythms that sit somewhere between post-dubstep and house. "Touched" floats dubbed-out metallic percussive clonks and clangs and reversed take noise over a speeding half-step rhythm and fluid bassline. "Seven Present Tenses" uses that drawbar organ to its fullest, hitting us with layered keyboard patterns (think horror films or prog rock!) before launching into a skittering rhythm and choral vocals (it's the 'Damien Omen' of dubstep!). Lastly "Powerplant" combines a fluctuating bassline with snapping 808 drums and the type of treated vocals beloved by the synthwave set.
