Heinrich Dressel – Sighing Melodies Thru The Graves LP

El arquitecto alemán de finales del SXIX Heinrich Dressel, conocido entre otras cosas por su pasión por los libros de inscripciones latinas, ha servido de inspiración para el artista italiano Valerio Lombardozzi a la hora de enfundarse un aka con el que firmar sus producciones.
La pasión que siente Dressel por la cacharrería analógica vintage se observa claramente en este “Sighing Melodies Thru The Graves”, referencia número 27 del sello italiano Mannequin. En él, Heinrich se explaya a través de las ondas sintéticas del Elka Synthex, el polysynth mastodonte creado a principios de los ochenta por Mario Maggi.
“Sighing Melodies Thru The Graves” es el homónimo que sirve para introducirnos este Lp. Una fusión perfecta entre ritmos electro más contemporáneos y el italo más cósmico de principios de los ochenta. Después nos topamos con “The Black radiant sky“, pura electrónica sintetizada de ámbitos oscuros y narcóticos que une los ritmos propios del electro más detroniano con aportes psicodélicos de origen más retro.
“Nestled against the Aurelian walls” es el tributo que Heirntich pretende ofrecer a la Kosmische musik. Un verdadero ejercicio cósmico-ambiental que nos introduce por las sendas más placenteras y apacibles de la electrónica facturada por sintetizadores, ideal para la desconexión entre nuestra mente y el mundo terrenal durante seis minutos.”The fifty days of mighty lunacy” nos atrapa en una espiral de aureolas lisérgicas que envuelve a una base electro-retro futurista. Lombardozzi, the italian producer and mind of one of the
best techno-electro labels around, MinimalRome.
After some marvellous releases on Legowelt's Strange Life
and Minimal Rome, Heinrich Dressel is finally celebrating
the use of vintage synthesizers and driven electronic
machines, holding elements of electro and ambient at the
same time, but breaking from the genres too, deeply
inspired by Heinrich Dressel, the pioneering German
archeologist sent to study in the holy city in Monte
Testaccio, who drew what is now a major tool for study of Roman amphorae, the "Table of
Dressel.
Heinrich Dressel is placed in a sort of limbo where John Carpenter meets Drexciya, a
sonorous journey through the darker side of the electro, taking the commands of the Elka
Synthex, one of the most impressive polysynths in the history of music, planned and
manifactured by Mario Maggi in the early 80s, as the commercial brother of the MCS70,
synth that gave birth to a masterpice album like "Automat".
“Sighing Melodies Thru The Graves” musically speaking can be described as a captivating
hybrid of styles, mixing the chilling-menacing mood of the 70s / 80s lo-fi funkadelic horror
soundtracks to outerspace synthesised soundscapes in a pure classy vein. This is
cryptical-kosmische psychedelica with a nice electro retro touch and avant-minimalist
vibes. An important contribution and a propulsive cinematic affair.
